So over the weekend, we had our first Braai (BBQ), a dinner/dance party at the other exchange household, attempted hike up to Table Mountain, and a drive down the coast to Simonstown wear we spotted some penguins! yea penguins!
But the fun is temporarily over as today is the first day of school.... we started at 8 this morning and go until 8:30 tonight. Not fun. But I gotta say, my first class was pretty cool. "Emerging Enterprises in Developing Economies" There were only maybe 15 of us in the class but the international perspective was awesome. I feel waay out of it when the conversation shifts to schooling systems in Botswana and Kenya and even S. Africa. The whole time I've been here I haven't felt there was that much cultural adjustment needed, but that's because we live in the swankiest part of town. The perspective in the classroom is definitely educational. We are going on a field trip to a township on Thursday, which im very excited for! hooray for field trips. also hooray for the free water and coffee in class. Just 6 more hours of class to go!
